Tonight we have two pretty cool SUV's from the local Craigslist. And while they both need a ton of work the entry price is low so there is a lot of wiggle room to make them what ever you wanted them to be.
First option tonight is a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! priced at $3,900. While the seller claims the engine runs strong that is where the positives end. A rough body and hard top plus a rusty frame leave no questions to the amount of work to be done. That being said it has the ability to be a really cool truck and the end of it all.
Second option tonight is a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! priced at $3,250. With its interesting paint accents it screams the 1970's. But the body is rough and the engine has a rod knock from a radiator leak. But from the sounds of it the rest of the truck isnt to bad, and it comes with a plow, if your into that kind of thing.

Only occasion I will ever go for the Toyota. Even though we are talking about a true Rover. The Toyota if stock petrol uses a Chevrolet designed engine.

I've always been a cruiser man.
If the engine is dead then I'll swap a 1UZ in there or something, though it sounds like it just needs a little bit of work and a tune up.

Land Rover. After reading Len Beadell's "Too Long in the Bush", I have a lot more respect for them.

I feel like I'm uniquely qualified to answer this because I own versions of both of these trucks and I still can't decide which one I would buy. Given their conditions, the Cruiser is probably the better bet because of the ease of a SBC swap to deal with the engine issues cheaply. But I'm not a fan of the SBC into the LCs so with the strong engine in the LR, you could eventually replace all the body panels and frame with remanufactured metal and have a nice runner. So that's the one I would probably take. You could probably make money buying both and reselling, the hardtop on the LR is probably worth half the purchase price alone.
